How do I find compatible RAM for my server or workstation?

Select the exact system model, processor or supported RAM speed, desired capacity, and upgrade approach. The advisor then compares candidates against the recorded platform, socket, slot, memory-type, speed, and catalogue constraints.

Can I add RAM to the memory already installed?

Yes, when a compatible exact-capacity layout is available. Enter the installed module count, capacity, type, speed, rank, and chip organization. If the current DIMMs cannot reach the goal, the advisor explains why and recommends an appropriate replacement layout.

Does faster-rated RAM make the system run faster?

Not necessarily. Memory normally runs at the effective speed supported by the processor and system configuration. The advisor flags faster-rated options that would provide no additional operating-speed benefit.
